SEER Approach

The SEER team initially conducted research to identify a keyword list that matched the interests of the client's potential customers as well as keywords that would drive the most qualified and, therefore, most valuable visitors to the site. SEER did not include branded keywords since the client already ranked well for terms that included its name. Once the keyword development was completed, both SEER Interactive and the client team worked collaboratively to optimize the use of keywords on select pages throughout the site, creating new content as necessary.

The SEER team also optimized the meta data and title tags on these pages. The client's website is additionally challenging because it has thousands of pages. SEER Interactive architected an internal linking strategy designed to provide the highest visibility for the site's pages.

SEER Interactive was a key part of transitioning the client's site during the implementation of a new content management system. The SEER team worked closely with the client's team and the CMS provider to ensure a smooth changeover for the 1500 page website, taking steps to make sure that all SEO changes previously made to the site were not lost in the transition, and in doing so, SEER and and the client were able to preserve the rankings they had already achieved and, in fact, increase rankings for many terms. This also minimized the impact that the CMS change had on site traffic. Furthermore, SEER Interactive aided the client in web analytics consulting to ensure tracking of SEO efforts to interaction with the site.

Results

Throughout the entire campaign, SEER Interactive provided the client with integrated reporting that combined SEO results with pay per click results, even though pay per click campaigns were managed by the client's team. This holistic approach gave the them an understanding of how multiple channels were driving traffic and converting into customers. After twelve months of an SEO campaign with SEER Interactive:

  • Keywords in the top 10 positions increased 500% on Google, 2100% on MSN, and 1850% on Yahoo!
  • 90% of Keywords held top 10 positions on MSN; 100% of Keywords held top 30 positions on Google & Yahoo!
  • Non-branded search visits increased over 400% on Google.
  • Non-branded search visits increased across all important keyword groups.
  • The cost per visitor from search was one twelfth of the cost per visitor from PPC.
